Raipur: The Government of Chhattisgarh is all set to launch an ambitious ‘Ram Van Gaman Tourism Circuit’ project next month. The project is slated to be launched on the occasion of the Navaratri festival on October 7.

The project is part of the Congress government’s development plans for the year 2021. The Bhupesh Baghel government in the Central Indian state has been carrying out development under the motto, Baat Hai Abhiman Ki, Chhattisgarh Ke Swabhiman Ki.

According to mythology, Lord Ram, Laxman and Sita had lived in exile in the forests of Chhattisgarh. There are many stories and songs that have been inspired by Lord Ram and have been narrated and sung in the communities of Chhattisgarh.

The state of Chhattisgarh is also believed to be the nanihal (mother’s birth home) of Lord Ram. Further, it was in Chhattisgarh that Lord Ram, as a prince, transformed into Maryada Purushotam.

“Lord Ram spent most of his time in Chhattisgarh during his exile from Ayodhya. To preserve the memories linked to Lord Ram and Mata Kaushalya, the government has envisioned this project where the devotees and tourists will be able to feel the essence of divinity with every step they take on Ram Van Gaman Tourism Circuit,” said Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.

The launch ceremony will take place at the ancient Kaushalya Mata Mandir, located in Chandkhuri village, some 25 kms away from the state capital Raipur. The celebrations will include music, dance, a laser show and LED mapping that will depict the story of Lord Ram and his exile in Chhattisgarh.

Such a celebration is planned to be organised annually and the aim is to present the state of Chhattisgarh as an exciting tourism destination for international as well as domestic tourists.

As part of the Ram Van Gaman Tourism Circuit, nine spots on the forested route that Lord Ram had traversed will be developed – Sitamadhi-Harchowka, Ramgarh, Shivrinarayan, Turturiya, Chandkhuri, Rajim, Sihawa, Jagdalpur and Ramaram.

“Our main priority is to develop the identified sites of the Ram Van Gaman Path into prime tourist spots. Keeping in mind the ongoing pandemic, special efforts are being made to motivate tourists towards domestic tourism and the Ram Van Gaman Tourism Circuit will be an immersive experience for tourists,” said Yashwant Kumar, managing director, Chhattisgarh Tourism Board.
