People, particularly Calvert City residents, who travel on US 62 between KY 95 and the I-24 intersection may want to attend a public meeting to see plans for improving the roadway on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at the Calvert City Civic Center which is located at 991 East 5th Avenue in Calvert City. The meeting is set for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet scheduled the meeting to update citizens on efforts to widen and improve U.S. 62 between KY 95 and Lone Valley Road. The Cabinet will soon start the final design process to prepare for construction.

According to the Transportation Cabinet’s District 1 Information Officer Keith Todd there are continuing concerns about safety at the intersection of Lone Valley Road and US 62. Recent developments in the area have increased the level of traffic there, particularly heavy truck traffic.

The meeting will be conducted in an open house format, allowing attendees to view a video and exhibits, talk to representatives with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and ask questions about the project.

Written statements will be accepted at the meeting. A comment sheet will be distributed to make it more convenient to provide written comments. Comments also may be submitted by mail before March 10, 2023, to Chris Kuntz, Branch Manager Project Development, KYTC District 1 Office, 5501 Kentucky Dam Rd, Paducah, Kentucky 42003.

Displays and other materials presented at the public meeting also will be available at the District 1 Office in Paducah during the same time period. Office Hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. local time. Comments may also be provided at this time.

All written comments will become part of the official meeting record. Once compiled, the meeting record and other supporting documentation will be made available for review and copying only after an Open Records Request has been received and approved. All Open Records Requests must be submitted to the Transportation Cabinet, Office of Legal Affairs, Transportation Office Building, 200 Mero St, Frankfort, Kentucky 40622.
